About Us

The Arkansas Pet Savers (TAPS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dog rescue. We are a foster-based organization, therefore, we do not have a facility. All dogs rescued are housed in local volunteer foster homes until an adopter or rescue commitment is found. TAPS is 100 percent volunteer based and relies on donations to help feed, house, and provide medical attention to all rescued animals.

TAPS primarily pulls dogs from euthanasia lists before they are put to sleep. Once a foster home or rescue commitment is found, that dog is pulled from the pound and is seen by one of our partner veterinary clinics to assess their medical needs.

We work closely with our rescue partners in northern states who select dogs that would be adoptable in their area and we arrange for those dogs to be transported to them. These rescue partners network these dogs to find them forever homes before they arrive.

Before any dog is transported, they are taken to the vet to receive a health certification that deems them healthy enough to travel. Whether a dog has been in our care for months or pulled from the pound merely 24 hours previously, we take every precaution to make sure they arrive to their destination safely.

Since TAPS is a nonprofit organization, we are transparent to the public and welcome all questions and inquiries regarding our practices. Please do not hesitate to ask questions.
